Pinseque, Zaragoza, 04/05/2022. The partners of Future: Fast Forward, led by the Volkswagen Group and SEAT S.A., today registered the project for the PERTE for the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC) with the ambition of turning Spain into an electric vehicle hub in Europe. Made up of 62 national and international companies that are leaders in different sectors, it is the largest business consortium in the history of the Spanish automotive industry.
It is a national project bringing together companies from 11 Spanish regions
(Andalusia, Aragon, Cantabria, Castile and León, Catalonia, the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia, Navarre and the Basque Country), 61% of which are SMEs, and together they cover the entire electric vehicle value chain.
In addition to Asai, the Aragonese members of this association include Electrónica Cerler, Grupo Sesé, Libelium, Motorland, Pomceg Electronics and the University of Zaragoza. Itainnova also takes part as a collaborating entity.
The project consists of four main pillars. The driving project, led by SEAT S.A. and the Volkswagen Group, aims to electrify the Martorell and Pamplona plants. The second pillar is the creation of the entire battery ecosystem for electric cars in Spain, from lithium mining to battery assembly, including a battery gigafactory in Sagunto (Valencia).
The third pillar covers the localisation in Spain of essential components for electric vehicles and the fourth includes areas related to training, digitalisation and the circular economy. Overall, the project covers the nine blocks of the Electric and Connected Vehicle PERTE.
