Artificial Intelligence for Quality and Inspection in Industrial Plants
The TransMisiones programme, an instrument for funding projects developed by groups of companies as part of a coordinated R&D action, called by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), seeks to address two major areas relevant to the Spanish economy: cross-cutting priorities affecting the economy as a whole, especially those related to the transition to the digital revolution; and thematic priorities focused on the green transition, including the energy transition and the fight against climate change and its consequences. In turn, the State Research Agency (AEI) grants aid to R&D projects in strategic lines in collaboration between research and knowledge dissemination organisations, within the TransMisiones 2023 initiative, under the state programme to promote scientific and technical research and its transfer.
The project IA4Q – Artificial Intelligence for Quality and Inspection in Industrial Plants, led by the Zaragoza Plant and involving investments of more than 10 million euros, will enable the development of proprietary technology in products and processes, ensuring maximum sustainability and energy efficiency and boosting industrial digitalisation.
The consortium brings together six SMEs as industrial partners, three of them from Aragon, and two research and technology development centres (ITA, the Aragon Technological Institute, and the University of Zaragoza), with the aim of researching and industrialising the implementation of cutting-edge technologies in quality inspection through 19 projects focused on developing artificial intelligence technologies, to be carried out from 2024 to 2027.
