Seeing that there is a shortage of PLC programmers and an excess of YouTubers and influencers, at Asai we decided to do our bit to reverse this trend.
Last Thursday we were visited by 50 pupils in years 5 and 6 from the Antonio Machado school, who gave us a lovely break from our daily work.
Split into groups and guided by several of our engineers and technicians, the pupils got to know all kinds of technologies used in our automation projects. They saw the door screwdriving application with machine vision that we are carrying out for Opel, a laser engraving and packaging cell with an exclusive fume extraction system made by 3D printing, machining centres producing parts, a random bin picking cell, the technical office, etc.
One of the highlights was when some pupils programmed a simple path for a collaborative robot fitted with a 3D scanner (you can see it in the video below).
As they identified the 8 robots that were in our facilities at the time (winning this challenge was their main concern), they all won a small souvenir, also made by 3D printing.
We hope the children enjoyed it as much as we did, and we would like to thank their teachers, Carmen Anchelergues, Beatriz Domeque, Ana Burmester and Alejandro Peralta, for the interest and enthusiasm they showed at all times. It was a real pleasure that we hope to repeat next year.
We hope we have sparked some vocations and that in the not too distant future some of these pupils will become our colleagues.
